Cleaning up Purchase Ledger

I am undergoing a purchase ledger tidy up, after 14 years of adding accounts, I need to rationalise and combine accounts to become PRF suppliers, however, this is creating a lot of closed accounts, is it possible to create an archive of these accounts, on another ledger. Advantage are telling me this is not possible at the moment.

Or is it simpler to add an account category to the general tab as (ARCHIVE), so all you get is read access.
