We have some students who have not taken the subject exam. When filling out their end of year report, the exam grade field does not contain an option to say 'exam not taken'. As this is a required field, we cannot complete the report for these students. No workaround is available so unsure what we do with reports going out to parents next week.
This is already possible. You can amend your report templates to allow users to enter non-numeric responses, so the teacher can enter that the exam was not taken. You can also set this field in the template to not be required. You could request that Reporting Services amend your output template to replace the blank values with another value (for example, 'Exam not taken'). If you are familiar with Reports Designer, you would be able to amend the report yourself.
